This is really nice! I especially like 'the fly'! It's really got the simple shapes we're looking for! If it's possible, reduce them down even further if you can. If you're struggling then maybe try using block colours to do it. Imagine you're doing really chunky silhouettes and you'll be exactly there! Plus, I'd just like to see these in silhouette form too.
Ok, top right is the way to go now when approaching your character designs. It's shapes are simple and all you need. You can make a whole animation out of block shapes and flat colour if thats the way you need to go.
I suggest that you come in and see me and have a quick chat about the possibilities.
